Nueva version del software Virtualizador gratuito VirtualBox, los cambios son abundantes aqui teneis un resumen de la lista de cambios:
 

  • OVF (Open Virtualization Format) appliance import and export (see chapter 3.8, Importing and exporting virtual machines, User Manual page 55)
  • Host-only networking mode (see chapter 6.7, Host-only networking, User Manual page 88)
  • Hypervisor optimizations with significant performance gains for high context switching rates
  • Raised the memory limit for VMs on 64-bit hosts to 16GB
  • VT-x/AMD-V are enabled by default for newly created virtual machines
  • USB (OHCI & EHCI) is enabled by default for newly created virtual machines (Qt GUI only)
  • Experimental USB support for OpenSolaris hosts
  • Shared folders for Solaris and OpenSolaris guests
  • OpenGL 3D acceleration for Linux and Solaris guests (see chapter 4.8, Hardware 3D acceleration (OpenGL), User Manual page 70)
  • Added C API in addition to C++, Java, Python and Web Services

Manual de redes en VirtualBox

Mi inquietud por traducir el manual se debió a las grandes posibilidades de hacer prácticas de hacking con una máquina virtual (VM): como seguramente ya sabrán, VB nos permite armar una red virtual, podemos comunicarnos con y desde una VM como si fuera una red física real, el sistema operativo instalado tendrá una dirección IP, puertos que escanear, etc. Esto es especialmente útil para los que todavía no disponemos de una conexión de Internet para practicar o para hacerlo mediante una VM sin el peligro de estropear algo (salvo la VM, claro) y sin molestar a nadie; en este sentido creo que la traducción puede ser de gran utilidad para la comunidad. No estoy seguro de si existe ya un manual en castellano, hice un googleo superficial y sólo encontré tutoriales acerca de la instalación de una VM o textos en inglés.

VirtualBox 2.1 con OpenGL

Acaba de publicarse la version 2.1 con Aceleracion 3D sobre OPENGL, un gran paso para una emulacion perfecta en la que funcionen juegos y aplicaciones que requieren aceleracion 3D.

Virtual Box 2.0.6

Hoy ha sido lanzada la version 2.0.6 del software libre y gratuito de Virtualización, Virtual Box es la “competencia” libre de VMWare, a la cual no tiene nada que envidiar, personalmente llevo usandola unos 6 meses, y todo son alabanzas para este software, muy recomendable.

Por fin ha visto la luz la version 2.0 del software de Virtualizacion de Sun Virtual Box, principales novedades:

  • Integracion con Windows y Linux como SO Invitados, Leopard Nativo.
  • Carpetas Compartidas.
  • Controladores Virtuales USB
  • Control Remoto de Escritorio
